Carol Ann Stevens' comment is quite interesting. I got my feet wet working in K12 as a math grad student in a program very closely related to Project SEED, which does recommend the use of scripts. I nver used them, but many people in the project did find them useful in sketching out what to do. The alumni from that generation include many of the mathematicians most active in reform, including one of the codirectors of the Interactive Mathematics Project, which is about as far from behaviorism as one can get. Also, scripts are used in MGMP, and are semiimplicit in some of Marilyn Burns' work.
Anyone care to comment on scripts? Judy Roitman, Math, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66049, 9138644630
