Hi -
After being off.line for several days due to computer problems (168 pieces of crap unknown to me on my machine ... have you heard about Spyware? Get rid of it by using a search engine to find adaware), I came on and saw the postings about kids and posting homework and answers and the load on Esther.
How about if we say it's great that kids are lurking as well as participating but that if they want answers to homework ... or to any other math issue in depth ... that whomever chooses to reply directly to the "poster" should, and more power to both of them. Sort of a do.it.yourself tutorial. That way students can participate and get help and see how we think about issues, and know that ... as long as their self.selected tutor chooses ... they can engage directly with someone about math. That way Esther doesn't have to screen; we don't have to answer and engage unless we choose to, and if I - for example - can't reply reasonably or satisfactorily to a students' issues, then I can post a note asking for help, or a substitute ... later ... mark
