Pointers on quality assurance of numerical Software?

Hi,

I am preparing my PhD in the of software quality management of
numerical software and I wonder if there are any pointers or
information available on how companies like NAG or SUN or others
ensure the quality of their numerical software libraries.
Any hints ?
