The department is an exciting place to build or further a career in the Applied Mathematical Sciences. Final approval for an innovative Ph.D. has recently been obtained at the state level. The program will have specialty areas in Applied Continuous Mathematics, Applied Discrete Mathematics, and Applied Statistics. A 39 million dollar expansion of the existing science complex will be open during the Spring Semester. Efforts to expand existing contract work in applied statistics, computer graphics, and partial differential equations are under way.
