Except for that which may be conferred by obscurity, it has none. It's just a way to take something that has already been securely encrypted in the binary domain, and convert it into letters which, instead of being uniformly distributed, are distributed in such a way to minimize bandwidth requirements for transmitting the bits by Morse code.
It's present to illustrate an unconventional way of applying the theory behind optimal coding.
