Working rubric for "A Riddle with 22 Legs" assessment

Being that my school still gives out letter grades in math and
other curricular areas, I have found it helpful to set up a four point
rubric so I can easily convert the number to a letter grade. I have
yet to find/come up with a general rubric that I can use for all
Investigations assessments. Therefore, I make up ones specific to the
task.
In the "Things That Come in Groups" unit guide (Gr. 3) I used the
information on page 88 to set up my rubric. It is as follows:
4-Proficient
*organizes data to help keep track of work
*computes correctly
3-Secure
*little evidence of organization of work
*computes correctly
2-Progressing
*does not organize work to keep track of combinations
*struggles with computation (relies heavily on blocks, manips.)
1-Little Progress
*little or no effort/understanding of task
Roughly, a 4 translates to a A, a 3 to a B, etc. I have found that
creating these work for me to quantify my observations of student
work. I am interested in knowing what other teachers are doing in the
area of rubrics and/or if you have any constructive criticism on this
rubric.
