ICME-9, Ninth International Congress on Mathematics Education
Tokyo/Makuhari, Japan July 31 to August 6, 2000


CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Topic Study Group #7: "The Use of Multimedia in Mathematics Education"

The International Program Committee (IPC) for ICME-9 has established TSG-7
and invited us (Katsuhiko Shimizu/Japan & Guenter Krauthausen/Germany) to be
the Co-Chief Organisers of this Topic Study Group.

By this announcement we want to invite proposals for contributions from
intending participants.

TSG-7 will deal with questions about sensible use of technology and
multimedia in mathematics education from primary to senior secondary level:

- experiences of software development,
- concrete experiences or evaluations of its use,
- merits and limits of technology and multimedia,
- theories of learning mathematics with technology.

Current and innovative research and practices will be welcomed. We are
looking for proposals for

- Key Note Lectures,
- selected short presentations,
- reseach findings and experiences of teaching/learning with multimedia,
- discusion of general problem/agenda for future,
- presentation of individual papers by distribution

People who are interested in joining and contributing to TSG-7 should
contact us by e-mail to offer possible contributions or to tell us about
their interests in the mentioned area. To facilitate our further planning
we would like to get information as follows:

- Special issues you would like TSG-7 to address: ...
- Kind of your possible contribution to TSG-7: ...
- Mathematical topic of your possible contribution: ...
- Level of mathematics education of your possible contribution: ...
- A short abstract of up to 20 lines will be very welcomed.
- Suggestions for special speakers or contributions by others: ...
- Further comments & hints which may be helpful for organising TSG-7: ...
