Symposium on Elementary Mathematics Teaching

SEMT 01

INVITATION

We cordially invite you to participate in the sixth bi-annual
conference on Elementary Mathematics Teaching [SEMT 01] which is to
be held from August 26 - 31, 2001 in Prague. The programme will be
focused on teaching of mathematics to children 6-11 years old.

The general theme of SEMT 01 is "What is meant by the competence and
confidence of people involved in the teaching of elementary
mathematics?

The Symposium will consist of plenary sessions, research reports,
topic groups, discussion groups and poster presentations. The
conference members may attend any working group according to their
personal interest.

Mariolina Bartolini Bussi (Italy)
Doug Clarke (Australia)
Edyta Gruzczyk-Kolczynska (Poland)
David Tall (Great Britain)
Erich Wittmann (Germany)

In case you decide to participate and want to present, it would be
helpful if you sent a preliminary application with the topic of your
presentation as soon as possible. The organizers would like to inform
authors of similar topics so that they can cooperate already before
the conference.

Proceedings will be published before the beginning of the conference.
