Calif. Schools Teaching To Test

To prepare students for the Stanford 9 achievement test, Bandini
Elementary School in Commerce, Calif., developed multiple choice
reading quizzes that look like the real test. The school also hired a
consultant to advise teachers on how to prepare students for the
exams. The Los Angeles Times newspaper examines how Gov. Gray Davis'
new focus on school accountability is changing the way students are
