Who knows web address for current version of mathematics framework?
Notes on meeting from a colleague:
The State Board met today. New version of mathematics framework
presented to Board. New version posted on DOE site. Two weeks from
now, all corrections to be made, and Board votes on next version at
July 25, 2000 meeting.
Board member read letter from mathematicians to the Board which
stated current version of the math framework is "fundamentally
flawed" ( authors Gleason,Curtis, Bolter,Vanderbilt).
Another Board member said that mathematicians were not included in
last round of corrections, wants document to be reviewed by Schmid.
Parent, (science faculty at MIT) spoke with concerns that
Massachusetts standards would not align with NCTM.
Peg Bondorew spoke regarding equity concerns which are not addressed
fairly in current document.
