Elementary and Mid POW ability levels

Hi Everyone - I was just curious to hear from other teachers who are
using the elementary and middle school POW's with their sixth grade
classes. I am finding that all but my very top students are extremely
frustrated by these types of problems. I'd like to know if the
weaknesses that I am seeing in reading, number sense, and computation
are just with my kids or if others are seeing the same weaknesses. I
understand the extra challenges that the middle school problems
present because of the higher grade level audience, but there are
many problems suitable for average sixth graders. I guess I am asking
if teachers could share the ability level of those sixth grade
students who are submitting on a regular basis and if they could share
some of their personal experiences with any sixth grade students who
participate in the POW program.
