If you use the Trig/Calculus Problem of the Week or the Discrete Math Problem of the Week, you might be interested in reading additional commentary for two of these problems. The Suspension Bridge problem has a new link to a paper by one of our mentors Paul Robinson. Paul compares the length of a catenary curve with the length of a parabola. This problem can be viewd at http://forum.swarthmore.edu/calcpow/solutions/solution.ehtml?puzzle=93. It is a very informative paper. Voting on Survivor now includes a TI-83+ graphing calculator program that can be used to solve the problem. Jeff Limber, a math teacher from Florida, submitted an original qbasic program which I translated into TI-83+. This problem can be seen at http://mathforum.com/dmpow/solutions/solution.ehtml?puzzle=69.
If you ever find URL's or create something that would be a nice addition to the archive commentary of a particular problem, please let us know.
