Hi,
The MidPoW, AlgPoW and GeoPoW that are available for submission and interaction starting February 18th and going through March 4, 2002 all have Olympic themes. Here's a short summary of each:
MidPoW http://mathforum.org/midpow/ "Citius, Altius, Fortius" Would record-holding speed skaters and runners break the speed limit in a residential zone?
AlgPoW http://mathforum.org/algpow/ "Winter Gold" Given some clues, figure out how many gold medals were won by each country.
GeoPoW http://mathforum.org/geopow/ "Winning at Biathlon" Figure out which of two fictional biathletes will win a race.
The Problem of the Week submission process for these three problems is a lot more involved than it used to be! After students submit an answer, they'll have an opportunity to get help, check their answer, or even compare their solution to solutions submitted by other students. Students can use the "Learn more about...." link to read more details about how to take advantage of the new features.
Feel free to submit yourself to get a good idea of the new features. To help us out, just let us know that you are a teacher testing the system.
Suzanne
