If you have a set of numbers (your data) and you put the numbers in 
either ascending or descending order, the middle term is the median.  
If there are an even number of terms, then the median is the average 
of the two middle terms.  Here are two examples:

1,2,3,12,15    The median is 3

1,2,4,5,6,9  The median is 4.5
