Multiplying and Dividing Mixed NumbersDate: 6/5/96 at 18:53:41 From: Anonymous Subject: Multiplying / dividing mixed numbers Dear Dr. Math, I need help on multiplying and dividing mixed numbers - like 1 1/2 divided by 9/10 or 8 1/4 x 2 2/3 or 3 1/2 x 2/7 x 4. It's like those. Eric Roger Thomas

Before multiplying or dividing mixed numbers, first convert them to
improper fractions. So 1 1/2 = 3/2 and multiplied by 9/10 gives
(3/2)*(9/10) = 27/20 = 1 7/20
(8 1/4)*(2 2/3) = (33/4)*(8/3) = (33*8)/(4*3) = 11*2 = 22
(3 1/2)*(2/7)*(4) = (7/2)*(2/7)*(4) = 4
