Journal of Online Mathematics and its Applications (JOMA) - Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Journal of the Mathematical Sciences Digital Library (MathDL), JOMA will publish: innovative, class-tested, Web-based learning materials; articles on design and use of online materials; original research articles on student learning via online materials and other technology-rich environments; surveys of existing online materials; high-quality "mathlets" (self-contained, dynamic, single-purpose learning tools); and other articles on related subjects, with particular emphasis on applications. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF); hosted by the Math Forum. more>> Mathematics and the WWW - Gene Klotz, The Math Forum This 1997 hypertext document by Math Forum Director Gene Klotz outlines his views of the effect of the World Wide Web on mathematics and math education. Although the paper was the basis for a talk given to college mathematicians, it is written for a general audience. Gene's goals: a) to give novices a good overview of the WWW and math; b) to fill in gaps in the knowledge of more advanced users; and c) to examine where we appear to be going. Gene offers controversial conclusions and imagines wonderful and horrible possibilities, along with strategies for seizing opportunities and avoiding pitfalls.
