| ARISE is a curriculum development project funded by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications (COMAP). It is developing a 9th- through 11th-grade secondary mathematics core curriculum in which applications of mathematics play a primary role. The units are not centered around mathematical topics but rather application areas and themes with the mathematical topics occurring as strands throughout the units. Students analyze real-world situations, develop mathematical models to fit them, check the models against reality, and improve them. Descriptions of distinguishing features of the ARISE Program; how ARISE differs from a traditional program; how ARISE differs from other reform math programs; and courses, featuring context overviews and lists of primary mathematical topics. | |
