  1. Geoboards in the Classroom - Tom Scavo
A Web unit for teachers from Tom Scavo that offers suggestions for using geoboards to explore the length and area of two-dimensional geometric figures. The Introduction includes pages that describe materials needed, offer discussion and activities for investigating length and area (in particular Pick's Theorem), and provide sample pages of dot paper to print out. Five lesson plans focus on lines, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, and right triangles, and a short bibliography rounds out the unit. more>>

  2. Math Learning Center (MLC) - Gene Maier
A non-profit Oregon-based educational organization that develops and publishes curriculum materials, provides continuing education for teachers, consults with educational agencies, and provides opportunities for parents and others to become knowledgeable about alternatives in mathematics education. Products and services include publications and teaching supplies (books, manipulatives). Materials are typically teaching guides designed for sensory-rich, highly interactive, textbook-free classroom settings, stressing visual thinking entailing the use of models, sketches and other graphic representations. Curricula include Bridges in Mathematics; Algebra Through Visual Patterns; Opening Eyes to Mathematics; Visual Math and Math Alive!; Number Corner; Box It or Bag It Mathematics; and Story Boxes. Conferences, seminars, and workshops are listed, and a searchable catalog is provided.
