  2. Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia
The Federal Reserve Bank has nine billion dollars in its vaults, and on an average day it destroys $20 million in unfit currency. At the Money in Motion exhibit you can explore the theoretical and mathematical realms of interest rates, inflation, and unemployment, or learn the more practical mathematical workings of cash, credit cards, and checks. The exhibit features calculators and graphs. more>>

  3. Franklin Institute Science Museum - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The online entry point for the Philadelphia science museum, featuring in-depth multimedia virtual exhibits and explorations, resources for teachers, and guides to the real-life museum and its programs. The website features a large selection of educational resources, including: online multimedia explorations of various scientific topics; Puzzling and Perplexing Problems (a monthly collection of seasonal math puzzlers); Wired@School (web investigations from The Franklin Institute Online Fellows); Minutes from ME (Margaret Ennis provides ideas for teachers using the web in their classrooms); and The Spotlights (collections of web resources with a single theme, including calendars, time, online projects, and electronic field trips, among many others). more>>

  4. Mathematics Museum (Japan)
Exhibits: Deformation of Catenoid to Helocoid; Geometry of wallpaper patterns (with interactive examinations); Math-Cut Studium; Soliton-Lab Art Gallery; Sangaku (Japanese temple geometry problem); The beauty of surfaces; Kodawari House, Keiichi Suzuki's "Mathematics of my own, Mathematics for children." Also links to related museums in the world. more>>

  5. Math Moves!
Experiential installations that "stimulate mathematical imaginations and build the mathematical abilities" of interest, confidence, and skills. Museum exhibits have included "Balance and Imbalance," "Comparing Frequencies," "Shadow Fractions," "Scaling Shapes," "Sensing Ratios," "Partner Motion," "Comparing Forms," and "Drawing with Gears." See also the site's collection of research into embodiment literature. Developed in partnership by Explora, Albuquerque; Museum of Life & Science, Durham; Museum of Science, Boston; Science Museum of Minnesota, Saint Paul; Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education (CRMSE), at San Diego State University and TERC, Cambridge; with support from the National Science Foundation. more>>

  6. Smithsonian Institution
An independent trust instrumentality of the United States holding some 140 million artifacts and specimens in its trust for "the increase and diffusion of knowledge," and a center for research dedicated to public education, national service, and scholarship in the arts, sciences, and history. The Smithsonian is composed of 16 museums and galleries, the National Zoo, and numerous research facilities in the United States and abroad. Nine Smithsonian museums are located on the National Mall between the Washington Monument and the Capitol; 5 other museums and the Zoo are elsewhere in Washington, D.C., and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the National Museum of the American Indian are in New York City. This site includes the Encyclopedia Smithsonian, answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), and an events calendar. more>>
