| The Mathematical Association of America and the AMATYC have established guidelines for mathematics departments that are discussed in the electronic version of a report on the National Research Council site of the Mathematical Sciences Education Board (MSEB) titled Achieving Quality in Undergraduate Mathematics, which begins: "Revitalizing undergraduate mathematics education is critical to achieving the dramatic reforms needed to develop educated citizens able to compete in an increasingly technological society and world economy. That task requires the collective efforts of our nation's colleges and universities with continuing support from the public and private sectors.... Recommendations in the Guidelines address issues of importance to faculty, departments and their institutions, curriculum and teaching, and students." | |
