Description: A scientific and educational society founded in 1839 to foster excellence in the use and application of statistics to the biological, physical, social and economic sciences. The ASA publishes journals, conducts scientific conferences, fosters a continuing education program, and is active in bringing statistical education to elementary and secondary schools. See, among others, Census at School, an international classroom project that engages students in statistical problemsolving; and STatistics Education Web (STEW), a collection of peer-reviewed lesson plans for K12 teachers.
