| The Forest Fires simulation applet models the spread of fire as a function of the probability that a burning tree will set its neighbor afire, and can include factors of wind and obstacles. The Percolating Oil Spill simulation applet models the percolation of an oil spill through the soil as a function of the percolation probability from one soil particle to the next. Written by Ed Young for use with the activities "Forest Fires, Oil Spills, and Fractal Geometry," by L. Charles Biehl. | |
