Description: Anonymous ftp archive for ARPACK, a software package for solving large-scale symmetric, nonsymmetric standard, or generalized eigenvalue problems. Industrial-scale problems with as many as 250K degrees of freedom have been solved with this package. Future research will involve extending Professor Sorensen's method, which is a new variant of Krylov subspace projection methods, to the iterative solution of large linear systems, investigation of preconditioning to improve convergence, and extensions to nonlinear eigenvalue problems.
