Description: Information about and materials from TERC's adult numeracy projects, including EMPower (Extending Mathematical Power), TIAN (Teachers Investigating Adult Numeracy), and Statistics for Action. The published EMPower curriculum fills the need for a math and numeracy program for adult basic education. TERC also offers EMPower Professional Development Workshops. TIAN is developing a new in-service professional development model for adult basic education teachers of mathematics. The Statistics for Action project aims at improving quantitative literacy among environmental action groups. This unique project helps environmental organizers and the citizens they serve understand and communicate with data and statistics related to local environmental issues.
