| The Legacy of R.L. Moore Project promotes the study of inquiry-based learning (IBL) and teaching methods that Moore propagated while teaching topology at The University of Texas. The "Moore Method" eschews textbooks; calls for only the briefest of lectures in class; and demands no collaboration or conferring between classmates. In essence a Socratic method that encourages students to solve problems using their own skills of critical analysis and creativity, the Moore Method shows that teaching and research need not be separate, competing enterprises. Read about the pedagogy; download a "quick-start guide"; watch video demonstrations of IBL in action; find out about future events and past activities; and more. | |
