|Spurred by the outcome of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), Germany launched a nation-wide "model programme for increasing efficiency in mathematics and science education." Between 1998 and 2007, more than 1800 of the republic's schools took part in the SINUS project.
