Description: Establishing a "professional system for the training of teachers" through "a common curriculum for professional training that focuses on high-leverage practices and on the subject-matter knowledge needed for teaching; performance assessments of teachers' readiness; supporting the learning of those who teach, coach, and mentor teachers; and making available information and data about teaching and ways to support the development of skillful instructional practice." The organization runs a streaming seminar series as well as elementary mathematics laboratory class sessions, often taught by TeachingWorks' director Deborah Loewenberg Ball, dean of the University of Michigan School of Education. TeachingWorks grew out of the Teacher Education Initiative (TEI) at the University of Michigan (U-M).
