Description: An "arena where demented computer programmers compete for glory and for some cool prizes." Computationally intensive problems, often involving heuristics, have included "Point Packing," "Retaining Water" (based on magic squares), "Son of Darts," "Topswops" (based on a card-ordering and -reversing problem devised by John Conway), "Factorials," "Graceful Graphs," "Alphabet City" (based on Scrabble), and "Delacorte Numbers." Each challenge details Zimmermann's scoring system.
