Author:Weiss, Ben; Krause, Kai; and Beddard, Tom
Description: Immersive app for creating and exploring fractals with multi-touch gestures: pinch, swipe, rotate to fly, tilt to steer . Zoom into more than a trillion-to-one depth range of the classic Mandelbrot set and the more self-similar Julia sets — infinitely. With almost 100 parameters and controls, Frax raises the fractal in 3D height; uses complex color gradients to smoothly tint and shade them; and adds two light sources for glossy reflections and infinitely scalable chaotic textures. Read Krause's blog for a closer look at this software for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
