| Cut the Knot!, Alexander Bogomolny | |
| First of a series of interactive columns for MAA Online that use Java applets to simulate a puzzle or mathematical problem, one not stated directly since the applets are intended to be such that the right answer to an as yet unstated problem should be easy to surmise. This introductory essay discusses "the thoughts and ideas that people produce and make public - stories, tunes, poems, myths, beliefs, religions, scientific theories, and the like" - how to spread the fact that math is enjoyable throughout the education community by means of meme carriers: teachers, students, and parents.
