[edit] what it is and what it could be

As someone in mathematics who loves quite a few branches of the arts, I was really smitten by the Math & Art community as I encountered it in Banff. I went there looking for material for my Math Image project, which I discuss a bit below, but came away wanting to learn more about you, attend more conferences, and share with the world. This is to a large extent because you look for artistic beauty coupled with mathematics, something that blows me away esthetically and for which I see amazing educational possibilities. Gene

[edit] how this wiki could help the math & art community realize its potential?

One thing that struck me at Banff was the number of times folks asked where to find things: people, lists of materials, etc. It seems that you could use an informal, quick and easy means of communicating. So I suggested a wiki and some people resonated favorably. Aside from helping you folks easily and conveniently share ideas and information, this could by something that would help fringe members like me learn more, and help you share your work with the general public. Math Forum people were delighted with the possibility and believe that hosting it would be a valuable contribution to math education. Gene
