NCTM San Diego
Presentation Summary

This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

Participants will learn about ways of assessing cooperative problem-solving efforts in the mathematics classroom. Participants will become familiar with analytic and holistic scoring scales and when each type might be used. We will explore a rich problem and then participants will gain hands-on experience in grading several solutions generated by students working cooperatively. We will also discuss how to create parallel problems and problem extensions.Joanna O. Masingila (Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY)
