Presentation Summary


This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.

The workshop will encompass the pre-planning, the implementation, and the follow-up activities of a problem-solving performance event with a portfolio entry as an outcome. Participants will receive information for organizing an inter-disciplinary problem-solving event. They will also participate in a modified version of this hands-on activity, which will include various stations consisting of non-routine, three dimensional and spatial-visual problems and puzzles. A writing prompt suitable for a Language Arts and /or Math Portfolio and scoring rubric for assessing this product will be provided. A video of a student performance event will be shown.
