This is the summary of a presentation given at the 74th Annual NCTM Meeting, 25-28 April 1996, San Diego, CA.
During this session participants will be involved in an in-depth look at the use of children's literature to teach mathematics. An emphasis will be placed on the teaching of mathematics through an integrated model. Multi-cultural themes, journals as an assessment tool, and everyday mathematics outside of the school day are topics that will be explored.
