Dilemmas Faced in Implementing Reform: When Old Ways Meet New Practices

In this session we will present examples of dilemmas faced by a teacher during the early stages of implementing mathematics instructional reform, discuss how the teacher came to "manage" the dilemmas, and look at how dilemmas salient in the early stages of reform play out over time. The co-presenters (teacher and researcher) will draw on their work in the QUASAR project as a basis for the discussion.
