There is currently a raging debate as to whether certain dinosaurs, now recognized as different species, were merely different developmental stages of single species.

Repercussions for Dinosaur Diversity

If certain dinosaurs were indeed merely different developmental stages of a single species, then the biodiversity of dinosaurs would have been much less than our current predictions.
