| Description: |
An application problem that asks students to help an excavation company prepare a bid for one of their clients by calculating what they should charge to dig a hole. To solve the problem students must find the volume of an irregular shaped prism, convert units, calculate the cost based on a linear formula, and write an explanation of their calculations. Video clips, interactive tools, and guides are provided to help students learn about and solve the problem. Materials are based on a scenario and materials created by SRI International for the Math Insight project.
