| Description: | This is a computer activity using Sketchpad and specially selected pictures located online (SlopePix web page) to help students understand the concept of slope. Following the instructions, students will paste a picture into Sketchpad, then "count out" the slope by hand, then have Sketchpad calculate the slope for them. Students conclude by reflecting on the process, on their accuracy at estimating slope by hand and whether they correctly indicated a positive or negative slope. All photography was done by the author, and is freely available to students and teachers for educational use. |
