In each activity, the basic problem could be solved without the calculator; however, the mathematics involved makes the calculator the appropriate tool to use. To prepare your students for the four-step problem-solving process in all of the activities, use Activity 1: Problem-Solving Steps first. By following the steps in this lesson, you will provide your students with a model to follow as they solve the other problems.
