Review based on: Teaching math concepts through pool initially attracted me. |
Appropriate for: introduction to a concept |
Other Comments: Due to the limited scope of the tool, I assume that its primary purpose was providing a fun way to help introduce a concept. |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? Basic geometry for length & width |
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? n/a |
What extra things must be done to make it work? Read the 'Instructions' and 'Explorations' sections or the tool will seem meaningless. |
How hard was it for you to learn? Hard |
Explanation: It may have been mostly the lack of directions within the applet, but I also believe that there should be some sort of "Quick Start" instructions included for those who like to learn by doing. |
Ability to meet my goals: Effective |
Recommended for: Math 5: Ratio and proportion Math 6: Ratio and proportion |

Review based on: Its thumbnail image appeared to look like a game of pool, which attracted me. |
Appropriate for: introduction to a concept |
Other Comments: As an introduction to a concept (or any "Purpose", really) this game may take some additional explanation. The educational concept of this game is not readily apparent. |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? I believe, since it appears to maybe be an introduction to a concept, that some knowledge of proportional reasoning may be necessary. |
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? Usage of a computer mouse. |
How hard was it for you to learn? Ok |
Explanation: I don't think the point of this game is readily apparent (i.e. the relationships between equivalent ratios, as well as 1:1 ratios). |
Ability to meet my goals: Neutral |
Recommended for: Math 6: Ratio and proportion |
