Review based on: I'm came across this tool in a search, and a geometric proof for completing the square sounded interesting, so I clicked on it to see what it was all about. |
Appropriate for: introduction to a concept, advanced investigations |
Other Comments: I had personally never seen (or thought about) a geometric proof of completing the square, and found this interesting. It is very quick to use, but makes a good point and will get students to think about the concept in a new way, or perhaps understand it for the first time. |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? To use the tool, you really don't need to know any math, but to understand the tool, a basic knowledge of areas of rectangles and squares is needed. An introduction to the completing the square method could also be helpful, but isn't entirely necessary. |
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? You just need to know how to click the mouse! |
How hard was it for you to learn? Very Easy |
Explanation: This tool just required a couple clicks of the mouse, so it was very simple and quick to use, while conveying a good proof that could stimulate discussion and thought. |
Ability to meet my goals: Effective |
