Review based on:
practice of skills and understandings, applications of a concept or technique
This is a wonderful tool to help students with the concept of making change. I love how it is "real world" oriented in the fact that students have to use their subtraction skills to figure out the change (Addition to check their answer!) as if it was a real store with a real customer. I also like the fact that it's not just one step and you're done. Students also have to make the correct change using the actual money on the counter. There's more than one skill being worked on with this tool but it's students will have fun with it. I would recommend this to any teacher, parent, administrator, or student to use!
What math does one need to know to use the resource?
addition, subtraction, coin/dollar amount recognition (money)
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource?
mouse, drag and drop, keyboard skills-numbers, decimals
What extra things must be done to make it work?
How hard was it for you to learn?
It was simple to use. I had no problems figuring out what to do what so ever and think students wouldn't have any problems either. Even if students can't read well, one demonstration of how it works would suffice.
Ability to meet my goals:
Math 3: Operations with numbers, Measurement; Math 4: Operations with numbers, Measurement
