Teacher Review (Based on classroom experience)Reviewer: Andy B, Aug 4 2004 10:52AM |
Classroom use in Courses and Topics: Math 7 Geometry: Triangles, Circles, Perimeter, area, and volume |
Duration of classroom use: One Week |
What did students learn? A nice review for students on their own of the area formulas discovered in class. |
What did students do with the resource? Reviewed area formuals in an interactive way. I appreciated the "Why" feature shown in many of the formula explanations. |
How hard was it for students to use? Very Easy |
Other classroom comments: The quiz taken at the end is a bit abrupt. When students get a problem incorrect, that is that, and the quiz moves on after giving the right answer. Right then and there I would like to see some explanation to the problem or a hint as to how better calculate the area. |
Appropriate for: practice of skills and understandings |
Other Comments: A bit straight too forward with some of the definitions as an introduction lesson. A nice remedial support though. I appreciate a discovery approach with the definitionsl. |
What math does one need to know to use the resource? General principles of area. |
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? TI-83 |
What extra things must be done to make it work? I encourage, since the program has no means of recording the incorrect problems, the students to record mistakes made on the quiz and reflect later. |

Ability to meet my goals: Effective |
