Review based on:
personal experience, student observations
practice of skills and understandings, applications of a concept or technique
The concept of probability here is easily understood and is motivating because it is fun.
What math does one need to know to use the resource?
In order to make predictive conclusions, & to be able to come up with their own individual probability problems, students will at least need to know multiplication & division. The concept itself is so simply demonstrated, students actually need to know little about math to understand it.
What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource?
What extra things must be done to make it work?
Nothing. It is the epitome of 'user friendly'.
How hard was it for you to learn?
Simply make your selections of the number of prizes you want to consider, and press 'Run Simulation'. The program even runs a log that allows you to see trends, averages, etc.
Ability to meet my goals:
Math 5: Probability; Math 6: Probability; Math 7: Probability
