Classroom use in Courses and Topics: Geometry: Perimeter, area, and volume |

Duration of classroom use: One Class |

What did students learn? Students learned the relationship between 3-D objects and the 2-D nets that create them. Specifically, as an intro to nets, they learned about the Platonic solids as an enrichment before learning about general nets. |

What did students do with the resource? Observed during a presentation; I might someday use the tool for individual student use but the lab requires more time than this lesson allows. |

How hard was it for students to use? Ok |

Other classroom comments: The presentation went very well. The only issue was the size of the window I could use. I had to reduce the size of the solid, especially when showing the icosahedron. |

Appropriate for: introduction to a concept, advanced investigations |

What math does one need to know to use the resource? Basic nets; basic polygons |

What hardware expertise does one need to learn to use the resource? Basic browsing, presentation equipment (if you want to show it to a classroom) |

What extra things must be done to make it work? familiarize yourself with little functions, like transparency, that you can't really play with while presenting. |

How hard was it for you to learn? Easy |

Explanation: The interface was user intensive... i only wish I could choose which vertex the polyhedra would unfold from. Several times I started unfolding from the back unintentionally. |

Ability to meet my goals: Effective |

Recommended for: Math 7: Geometry in the plane, Geometry in space Geometry: Perpendicular and parallel lines, Polygons, Perimeter, area, and volume |
