Hi Jimbo,

I agree completely. I teach my students that an equation has an equals sign, and
is an "expression of equality". It is a concept they often find really hard to
understand.

An expression, on the other hand, is a mathematical symbolization, typically
using arithmetic operators and numerals or variables.
