I found that students improved remarkably when I had them use a Flashmaster for
about 10 min per day as advised by the developer[available at
www.flashmaster.com - I have no affiliation with the product or website other
than being a satisfied user].  This device seems to mimimize the perception of
drudgery and made more of a game out of learning basic facts.  good luck - I
hope this helps you too.
