experimenting with graphing calculators and the sensors that can be used to
gather data with them. As we've used them, we've faced a number of issues that
I'm interested to receive peoples' perspectives on:
What do you think the strengths of using the sensors in a math class are?
What difficulties have you found or do you anticipate in using the sensors in
the classrom?
How can the sensors be appropriately used in a Math classroom? (Are they more
appropriate for a science class?)
It seems like a lot of the time can be taken up in setting up a lab and
gathering data. How essential is it for each student to actually gather the
data?
I've shot video and gathered data for a number of the labs and am looking at
putting them online in a format that would allow students to view experiments
and then access the gathered data to be able to analyze it and respond to
questions about it. Has anyone tried something like this? What are your
thoughts? Do you think it will take the fun out of it? Will the mathematical
experience be as rich?
