I found it interesting that you said the applet was easaier than the graphing
calculator. I think that using the applet lead to some surprises over the
graphing calculator. With the graphing calculator you would have  to enter the
equation for the runner who is moving to the left as a negative slope. With the
applet ,however, the step size is not entered as a negative.
