graphs
steeper? What are other questions that you could ask them that rely very
little
on any vocabularly? Talking about making it steeper is different from
talking
about making it faster - steeper is a visual observation that doesn't require
so
much specific knowledge about the graph.
This raises the very interesting question of how much prior knowledge do the
students need to have to use this activity. It would be very interesting to use
this as an introductory tool for graphing, give them the chance to "play" and
then focus in on some particular topics BASED on what the students came up with
in their "play."
